Night Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

You’ll join Woodcroft Veterinary Hospital’s night team as a sole charge veterinary surgeon, working a pattern of 5 nights every 3 weeks. This is a 24-hour hospital environment where you’ll manage inpatients and see accident & emergency cases throughout your shift, supported by a dedicated nursing team. The role offers real clinical variety balanced by genuine downtime—you’re not on call between shifts, giving you proper time to recharge.

The practice is located in Cheshire, perfectly positioned between the Peak District and Lake District, with excellent transport links and a short train ride to Manchester. You’ll have access to an impressive range of diagnostic and surgical equipment across the group: CT scanner, doppler echocardiography, flexible and rigid endoscopes, direct radiography suites, ultrasound scanners, dental radiography, electrocautery, laparoscopy, and advanced anaesthesia equipment. This breadth of facilities supports genuine clinical progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide sole charge veterinary care during night shifts, managing inpatient cases and emergency presentations
• Work collaboratively with the nursing team who support you throughout your shift
• Deliver high-standard clinical care using the hospital’s advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment
• Contribute to the team’s commitment to gold-standard patient care and excellent client experience

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon with proven experience suitable for sole charge work
• Confidence and clinical competence in emergency and critical care scenarios
• Genuine commitment to patient care and supportive teamwork
