Ready to join a warm, nurturing team where learning is celebrated and cake consumption is compulsory? Woodland Veterinary Centre offers excellent work-life balance with just Saturday morning cover on a 1:8 rota and zero overnight duties.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

1:8 rota for Saturday morning cover (8am–2pm); no overnight or weekday out-of-hours duties.

About the Role

You’ll join the nursing team at Woodland Veterinary Centre as a Registered Veterinary Nurse, working 32 hours per week across a beautiful three-site practice in the heart of the South Downs. Based primarily at Midhurst (with potential flexibility across Haslemere and Liphook), this part-time role offers the ideal balance between clinical variety and personal time. Shifts combine earlies and lates (8:00am start, 7:30pm finish) with no overnight on-call duties—just Saturday morning cover on a 1:8 rota, giving you genuine work-life balance that many practices promise but few deliver.

Your days will rotate through four key areas: Theatre, Kennels, Prep, and Consultation. This rotation keeps your work varied while maximizing clinical exposure. You’ll work alongside a highly experienced Head Nurse and a team that genuinely invests in each other’s development. The practice recently refurbished its kennels with separate dog and cat wards, and the equipment list is impressive—from digital radiography and ultrasound to in-house pathology, laser therapy, and endoscopy. You’ll also get regular opportunities for kitten cuddles through partnership work with a local Cats Protection Adoption Centre.

Situated in the South Downs with easy access to the coast and London, Woodland Veterinary Centre combines a peaceful rural setting with strong transport links to Europe via nearby Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard nursing care across theatre, kennels, prep, and consultation areas
  • Support clinical procedures using modern equipment including ultrasound, digital radiography, and anaesthetic monitoring
  • Contribute to patient welfare, including care of recently improved kennel facilities with dedicated dog and cat wards
  • Engage with the practice’s learning culture by sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues’ development
  • Work flexibly across three sites (Midhurst, Haslemere, Liphook) as required
  • Participate in community outreach, including ongoing care coordination with local Cats Protection Adoption Centre

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) status
  • Small animal nursing experience
  • Ability to work flexibly across multiple sites

Benefits

  • Work-Life Balance: 6.6 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing with service; your birthday as a paid day off
  • Wellbeing Support: Private Medical Insurance; 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme; enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, surrogacy pay)
  • Professional Development: £550 CPD allowance with 24 hours paid CPD leave (pro rata); Certificate support; access to IVC Evidensia Academy; Vetlexicon online encyclopaedia; research funding opportunities; Infection Prevention and Control Programme; Quality Improvement Programme
  • Professional Memberships: VDS cover and RCVS fees paid
  • Financial: Competitive base salary (up to £29,500 FTE depending on experience); company pension scheme with employer contribution
  • Colleague Perks: Cycle to Work scheme; Green Cars Scheme (subject to eligibility); voluntary benefits with choice; retail discounts and cashback; discounted pet treatment at IVC Evidensia practices
