🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours duties. Saturday shifts on a rota basis with time off in lieu. Standard shift times: 7:30am–8:00pm maximum.

About the Role

This is a leadership opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse ready to take the helm of nursing operations at a friendly, well-established practice. You’ll be the clinical nursing manager—responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care while leading a team of 15 nurses alongside three Lead Nurses. Your role is to optimise patient pathways, manage rotas and scheduling, and ensure nursing excellence across all clinical areas.

Based at Woodward Veterinary Practice in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, this full-time position offers a healthy work-life balance with no out-of-hours duties. Saturday shifts are shared on a rota basis with time off in lieu, and standard shift times run from 7:30am to 8:00pm maximum. Admin time is built into your working week, so you can handle management duties without compromising clinical care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise and manage nursing rotas and holiday bookings for a 15-strong team
  • Lead regular nurse team meetings and conduct Professional Development Reviews (PDRs)
  • Oversee daily patient flow and admission-to-discharge pathways to maximise efficiency
  • Work alongside the Practice Manager and Lead Vet on Practice Standards and policy adherence
  • Attend Practice Business Review (PBR) meetings as part of the leadership team
  • Maintain clinical nursing duties while managing the wider nursing strategy
  • Support the practice’s continued growth through excellent nursing standards and team development

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously within a busy environment
  • Commitment to high clinical standards and patient welfare
