Home / Vet Surgeon Jobs / Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal
Alphavet Veterinary Centre, Risca
Apply before: May 1, 2026
1:5 Saturday morning rota, 8am–12:30pm. No overnight or night shift requirement mentioned.
Join AlphaVets as a Veterinary Surgeon and gain access to a practice environment built for clinical growth. You’ll deliver consulting, surgical, and inpatient care across two well-equipped locations, with the flexibility to specialise in areas that excite you—whether that’s advanced orthopaedic work-ups, laparoscopic procedures, or a consulting-only pathway if that suits your career stage. This is a Monday–Friday role with one day off per week, plus a relaxed 1:5 Saturday morning rota (8am–12:30pm), giving you genuine work-life balance in a small animal setting.
The practice is undergoing expansion: the Risca branch relocates to a new purpose-built facility in 2026, while the Langstone site continues offering advanced surgical capabilities. You’ll work with a tight-knit clinical team of three experienced vets, qualified nurses (including RCVS advanced practitioners and surgical certificate holders), and dedicated reception staff who genuinely support each other.
Since 1996, AlphaVets has invested continuously in facilities—digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house lab, advanced dental equipment, and dedicated surgical spaces. This is a place where your clinical interests are encouraged, not sidelined.
AlphaVets operates two small animal practices in South Wales, serving the community since 1996. The practice is defined by investment in cutting-edge facilities and a culture of transparency, personal development, and genuine team support. The Risca branch (139 Commercial Street, Risca, Newport) features three consulting rooms, digital x-rays, ultrasound, in-house lab, sterilisation, and state-of-the-art dental equipment—with a full renovation to new premises underway for 2026. The Langstone site offers a recently refurbished environment with separate dog and cat wards, dedicated dental suite, x-ray/ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and advanced orthopaedic and spinal equipment.
Part of IVC Evidensia, the UK and Europe’s leading veterinary care group, AlphaVets maintains its independent identity while benefiting from resources, training infrastructure, and career support across 900+ practices. The team is committed to clinical excellence, continuous learning, and creating an environment where every vet—regardless of career stage—can thrive.
