Ready to work somewhere that actually values work-life balance? Join a supportive small animal team with no out-of-hours, just 1 in 3 Saturday mornings, and the flexibility to shape your own schedule.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours commitments. Occasional in-patient care checks available on an optional, paid basis. 1 in 3 Saturday mornings as part of standard rota.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, RCVS-accredited small animal practice serving the Hampshire/Surrey border. You’ll work primarily from one of two larger sites, with time spent at a second branch—allowing you to develop cases and build strong client relationships whilst still enjoying a varied caseload. Based near the beautiful South Downs National Park and within easy reach of the coast, London, Gatwick, and Heathrow, the location offers genuine work-life balance appeal. The role is open to both full-time and part-time candidates, with typical hours of 40 hours over 4 days, Monday to Friday, plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. The practice welcomes flexibility around working days and hours to suit your needs.

There are no out-of-hours commitments, though you’ll occasionally care for in-patients. In-patient treatment checks are optional and paid separately. This is a role where the team genuinely wants you to enjoy coming to work and feel valued by colleagues and clients alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality primary care across small animal consultations and surgical procedures
  • Work-up cases and provide continuity of care across the practice’s two main sites
  • Utilise the practice’s diagnostic facilities including ultrasound, digital radiography, dental imaging, and haematology/biochemistry
  • Perform surgical work in dedicated theatres with support from a visiting orthopaedic specialist for complex cases
  • Contribute to the care and management of hospitalised patients in separate cat and dog wards
  • Engage with a supportive clinical team including 1 Clinical Director, 6 Vets, 4 RVNs, 2 SVNs and 7 Receptionists

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon with RCVS registration
  • Experience in small animal practice (experienced vets welcomed)
  • A commitment to high standards in medicine, surgery, and diagnostics

Benefits

  • Time Off: 6.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays, plus your birthday off
  • Salary & Bonuses: Up to £65,000 DOE, plus up to £2,000 welcome bonus and up to £5,000 relocation allowance; accommodation available
  • Development: £1,250 CPD allowance plus 40 hours paid CPD; access to IVC Evidensia Training Centres and Vetlexicon online resources; £1,250 annual Care Fund
  • Wellbeing: Private medical insurance; enhanced family-friendly leave and pay; 24/7 confidential Employee Assistance Programme
  • Professional Support: BVA membership, VDS cover, and RCVS fees covered
  • Colleague Perks: Cycle to Work and Green Car schemes (subject to eligibility); retail discounts and cashback offers; reduced-cost veterinary care for your own pets
