Ready to be the friendly face of a well-equipped small animal practice? Animals 1st Macmerry is looking for a part-time receptionist to join their supportive 14-strong team in a role that blends front-of-house charm with practical pharmacy and admin skills.

About the Role

Join Animals 1st Macmerry as a part-time veterinary receptionist working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm. You’ll be the welcoming first point of contact for clients and their pets, managing the busy front desk whilst supporting the clinical team behind the scenes. This role sits at the heart of the practice, combining client care with essential pharmacy and administrative duties in a setting where your contribution directly impacts both animal welfare and owner experience.

Animals 1st is a well-resourced practice equipped with two theatres, digital radiography, and ultrasound facilities. The team includes 4 veterinary surgeons, 4 registered veterinary nurses, 2 animal care assistants, a practice manager, and 3 receptionists—plus certificate holders in medicine and cardiology—making this a collaborative environment where you’ll never feel out of your depth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming clients and patients in a professional, warm manner and managing front-of-house operations
  • Processing and dispensing medications; assisting with pharmacy duties and prescription management
  • Booking appointments and managing the appointment schedule
  • Stock control and maintaining clean, well-stocked waiting areas, consulting rooms, and offices
  • Accurately entering client and patient information into record systems promptly
  • Preparing paperwork and patient notes in advance for veterinary surgeons
  • Taking payments, processing daily banking, and handling financial transactions
  • Registering new clients and explaining practice services and current offers
  • Providing ad-hoc support to vets and nurses as required
  • Attending training events to maintain knowledge relevant to the role
  • Managing general administrative tasks as they arise
