About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit, welcoming small animal practice based in Pinhoe, just outside Exeter city centre. You’ll enjoy the best of both worlds—a genuine village practice community feel combined with easy access to everything a vibrant city offers. The role is offered on a full-time or part-time basis, with four 10-hour shifts per week as standard (flexible to your needs) plus Saturday mornings on a 1:3 rota. Best of all: no out-of-hours shifts.

With a strong track record of supporting clinical development, the practice actively encourages you to pursue your interests—particularly surgery—while a highly experienced nursing team provides excellent day-to-day support. You’ll have access to nearby referral centres when complex cases need specialist input, giving you confidence to build your clinical skills without the pressure of working in isolation.

This single-site practice has the rare combination of long-standing, loyal team members alongside fresh energy from newer colleagues, creating a genuinely collaborative and supportive culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient and clinical care across a varied, rewarding small animal caseload

  • Contribute positively to the clinical culture of the practice through professionalism and mentorship
  • Actively pursue your clinical interests and continue developing your surgical capabilities

Requirements

  • Veterinary degree and current RCVS registration (or eligible to register)
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
  • Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Interest in surgery is particularly valued but not essential

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: Up to £71,000 depending on experience, plus £2,000 welcome bonus and £2,000 relocation allowance
  • Work-life balance: 6.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays; no out-of-hours shifts
  • Learning & development: £1,250 annual Care Fund per vet; funded CPD allowance; access to IVC Evidensia Academy training centres and role-relevant courses
