Ready to join a thriving independent practice where nurses truly nurse? Bramble and Bear is a forward-thinking small animal team with a brand-new hospital, manageable OOH, and a supportive culture that actually listens to your ideas.
Typically one to two advice calls per week; on-call from home when no inpatients present; attendance at practice only if needed.
You'll be joining Bramble and Bear's growing nursing team at an exciting time. The practice has recently opened a purpose-built hospital and rehabilitation centre in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands, marking a significant expansion from its mobile clinic roots. This is a 4-day week role working either 7.30 am to 4.30 pm or 11 am to 8.30 pm shifts.
Out-of-hours work is typically very manageable due to the practice's free daytime consultation model, with usually just one or two advice calls per week. If there are no inpatients, you'll be able to be on-call from home, only attending the practice if needed. You'll be encouraged to fully use your nursing skills across hands-on inpatient care, anaesthesia, and running comprehensive nurse clinics, with support to pursue professional development whether that's certificates or rehabilitation interests.
Bramble and Bear was founded three years ago by Dr Matt Bayliss MRCVS and Dr Hannah Brooks MRCVS with a vision to provide innovative, first-class veterinary care with a focus on compassion and affordability. The practice began as a mobile clinic and has evolved significantly, opening its first hub in September 2023 and now operating a purpose-built hospital and rehabilitation centre on a working farm in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
The hospital features two fully equipped theatres, a dedicated dental suite, and an imaging suite with DR X-ray, Doppler ultrasound, and endoscopy. There are separate cat and dog wards designed to minimise stress, outdoor space for patient recovery and team breaks, and an adjacent rehabilitation centre offering underwater treadmill, hydrotherapy, and physiotherapy. The practice is Fear-Free accredited and offers free daytime consultations with fixed-cost hospitalisation and surgery. The nursing team comprises a Head Nurse (Anna), three RVNs, and one SVN, working within a collaborative culture that values professional growth and team wellbeing.
