Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This Registered Veterinary Nurse position is based primarily at Cedar Vets' Alton site, with the chance to play an active part in how the nursing team develops. The practice is looking for a confident RVN who may already have senior experience, or who is ready to step up into greater responsibility with support.

You will be joining a collaborative, well-resourced nursing team where Schedule 3 nursing is encouraged, mentoring is part of day-to-day life, and there are opportunities to build leadership skills, support colleagues and develop clinical interests. There is no routine out-of-hours requirement, although ward or out-of-hours shifts may be available if you would like that experience.

Cedar Vets operates across Alton, Alresford, Bordon and Four Marks, with modern facilities and a team culture built around communication, development and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Work mainly from the Alton practice as part of the nursing team.
• Support the day-to-day running of the busy prep area.
• Help mentor colleagues and contribute to the development of the nursing team.
• Take on increasing responsibility over time, with support from the senior team.
• Use Schedule 3 nursing where appropriate.
• Contribute to patient care across wards and, if interested, out-of-hours shifts.

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse status.
• Confidence and initiative to step into a role with growing responsibility.
• Experience in a senior role is welcome, but previous line management experience is not essential.
• A collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues.
• Interest in developing clinical skills, leadership and long-term career progression.

Benefits

• Salary from £30,202 to £33,987 per annum, depending on experience and responsibilities.
• 40 hour full-time rota, with part-time options available.
• Two longer shifts of 8am to 7pm and three shorter shifts of 8am to 3pm or 8am to 3.30pm.
• 1 in 7 Saturday rota, with Saturday hours paid at time and a half.

About the Practice

Cedar Vets is an independent practice, owned and run by husband and wife Charlie and Lara, and has been part of the local community for over 130 years. The team describes itself as values-led, collaborative and focused on both clinical standards and people development.

The practice operates across Alton, Alresford, Bordon and a small branch surgery in Four Marks. Facilities include CT, dental X-ray, video endoscopy, laparoscopy and multiple multiparameter monitors, and the practice reintroduced its own in-house out-of-hours emergency service in June this year.
