About the Role

You'll join Chipping Norton Veterinary Hospital as a full-time Registered Veterinary Nurse, delivering high-quality clinical care across a diverse caseload. This is a busy first opinion hospital with exciting referral services in exotics, radioiodine therapy, and CT imaging, plus care for several zoo collections. The practice is set on the edge of a picturesque Cotswold market town, offering an engaging clinical environment combined with quality of life.

The role includes weeknight and weekend on-call shifts on a rota basis, with occasional cover needed at the Begbroke branch. Full training is provided, so experience with exotics is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to a range of first opinion and referral cases, including small animals, exotic species, zoo animals, and farm cases
• Support veterinary surgeons and collaborate with the wider clinical team to maintain high standards of patient care
• Take responsibility for medical and surgical nursing across diverse species
• Contribute to clinical standards development and ongoing practice improvement
• Build positive relationships with clients and colleagues through strong communication
• Manage workload effectively and demonstrate organisational excellence

Requirements

• RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Clinical practice experience with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
• Good organisational skills and effective workload management
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement

About the Practice

Chipping Norton Veterinary Hospital is an established mixed practice treating an unusually wide range of animals including dogs, cats, small domestic pets, farm species, camelids, horses, game birds, and exotic species including reptiles, parrots, birds of prey, and zoo animals. The practice was among the first in the UK to achieve RCVS Hospital status (now Tier 3) in 1976 and continues to set high standards across all specialisms.

The team has special clinical interests in internal medicine, critical care, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, dentistry, and advanced imaging. The hospital is RCVS-accredited for veterinary nurse training and affiliated with the University of Bristol Veterinary School for extra-mural study experience.
