Veterinary Surgeon, Small Animal

About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position working 4 days per week with a manageable 1-in-4 weekend rota covering Saturday mornings only (9am to 1.30pm). Based primarily in Heswall with one half-shift per week at the nearby Neston branch, you'll enjoy a varied caseload of consultations, routine surgeries, and medical workups.

Churchview Vets is a well-established practice in West Wirral, serving the local community since 2000. The team has recently expanded into the adjacent building, creating additional consulting rooms, a brand new diagnostic suite, a spacious operating theatre, and separate dog and cat kennels.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-standard primary care consultations and clinical work across a varied small-animal caseload
• Perform routine and more complex surgical procedures under appropriate conditions
• Conduct thorough medical workups and clinical assessments
• Collaborate with a clinical team comprising 4 Veterinary Surgeons (3 FTE), 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and experienced Veterinary Care Assistants
• Share knowledge with colleagues and contribute positively to the practice's clinical culture
• Support the professional development of team members around you
• Maintain a minimum of 1 operating day per week as part of your 4-day rota

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and current RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• A proactive, collaborative approach to learning with openness to feedback
• Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
