About the Role

Cogges Veterinary Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their established small animal team in Witney, Oxfordshire. This full-time permanent role offers a balanced schedule of 40 hours spread across five days: three early shifts (8am to 4:30pm) and two late shifts (11:30am to 8pm), with a share of weekends and bank holidays built in.

Witney is a charming market town with weekly markets, independent shops and eateries, set within easy reach of Oxford and the beautiful Cotswold villages. The practice has built a strong reputation since opening in May 1993 for being friendly, professional, and deeply embedded in the local community.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to first opinion patients, rotating through theatre, prep, kennels, float, and reception/dispensary
• Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to maintain clinical standards
• Lead or support nursing consultations, utilising your clinical knowledge to educate and care for clients and their animals
• Take responsibility for medical and surgical nursing cases with growing confidence and autonomy
• Contribute to ongoing development of patient care protocols and practice standards
• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients through excellent communication and professional care

Requirements

• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Practical experience working in clinical practice with competence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and effective workload management
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous professional improvement
• Team-orientated mindset with a commitment to high standards of patient and client care

About the Practice

Cogges Veterinary Surgery opened in May 1993 and has grown into an established, strongly independent small animal practice with a firm commitment to the local community. The practice is known for friendly, professional service and actively reaches out to communities in Botswana and Egypt. Everyone who works here loves animals and has pets of their own.

The nursing team is experienced and dynamic. Operations days are nurse-led with a variety of nurse consultations offering plenty of room for development. The practice is well equipped with multi-parameter monitoring, capnography, blood pressure monitoring, high specification ultrasound, dental X-ray, digital radiography, and an in-house laboratory with cytology capabilities for ear and skin cases.
