Join a thriving small animal practice where your nursing skills are truly valued. At Corner House Vets, you'll work with a supportive team of 4 vets and 8 fellow nurses—no nights, no emergencies, just great cases and genuine flexibility.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours or emergency duties. Weekend rota is 1:9 (Saturday and Sunday mornings only, 08:30–13:30), with the following Friday off in lieu.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant, forward-thinking small animal practice in the Kent seaside town of Herne Bay. You’ll work across a 40-hour week over 4 or 5 days (Monday to Friday, 08:00–20:00), with flexibility built into the nursing rota to suit your preferences. Weekends are straightforward: a 1:9 Saturday and Sunday rota with mornings only (08:30–13:30), and you’ll receive the following Friday off in lieu—perfect for long weekends. Importantly, there are no out-of-hours or emergency duties; you’ll have your evenings and nights to yourself.

You’ll work with a busy and varied caseload that lets you use the full scope of your nursing training, including running your own nurse clinics and handling Schedule 3 procedures. The practice is fully equipped and genuinely invested in your development—there are certificate holders on the team, and progression is actively encouraged.

Corner House Vets is an approved training practice, so if you’re interested in clinical coaching or mentoring, those opportunities are available too.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care across a varied small animal caseload
  • Run your own nurse clinics and manage Schedule 3 procedures independently
  • Work collaboratively with 4 veterinary surgeons and a team of 8 RVNs
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of nursing practices within the practice
  • Support and mentor colleagues where appropriate, particularly if pursuing clinical coaching
  • Engage in continued professional development and bring new learning back to the team

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Enthusiasm for small animal nursing and commitment to professional development
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work within a flexible rota system (daytime only; weekends on a 1:9 basis)

Benefits

  • Work-Life Balance: 6.6 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing with length of service; your birthday as a paid day off
  • Professional Development: £550 CPD allowance with 24 hours paid CPD leave (pro rata); certificate support; access to IVC Evidensia Academy; Vetlexicon online encyclopaedia; research funding opportunities
  • Wellbeing & Support: Private Medical Insurance; 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme; enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay
  • Professional Membership: RCVS fees covered; VDS cover included
  • Pension & Perks: Company pension scheme with IVC Evidensia contribution; Cycle to Work scheme; Green Cars Scheme; discounted pet treatment at IVC Evidensia practices; voluntary benefits and retail discounts
  • Quality Programmes: Access to Infection Prevention and Control Programme and Quality Improvement Programme

About the Practice
