Senior Administrator / Head Receptionist

About the Role

This Senior Administrator / Head Receptionist role is based on site at Straight Mile Farm in Wokingham and can be considered on a part-time or full-time basis, Monday to Friday. It sits within a friendly, experienced team of equine vets, nurses and administrators providing first opinion work, 24/7 emergency care and elective surgery.

You’ll be stepping into a busy front-of-house position where strong customer service, confident communication and a calm approach will matter every day. The practice is specifically looking for someone with in-depth equine knowledge gained through owning or working with horses, and no veterinary experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of two receptionists.
• Work alongside the Practice Director on finance, health and safety, and rota support.
• Answer calls and handle client enquiries.
• Manage diaries and appointment bookings.
• Welcome clients and help ensure every visit and phone call is a positive experience.
• Take payments and arrange medication orders.
• Carry out general administration and multi-tasking duties in a busy veterinary setting.

Requirements

• Experience in a similar role managing a team.
• Strong equine knowledge from owning or working with horses.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident telephone manner.
• Detail-focused approach.
• Experience using IT systems, with full training provided.
• A positive can-do attitude.
