OOH Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is an out of hours Veterinary Surgeon position based at Solihull Veterinary Hospital in Olton, Solihull. The contract is annualised at 14 hours per week, with 7 nights on a 1 in 6 weeks rota, working 7pm to 8am Monday to Sunday.

You will be joining a supportive and experienced team that includes vets, RVNs, PCAs, receptionists and a dedicated out of hours team. The hospital has CT scanner access and full hospital facilities, and the role involves inpatient care from admission through to treatment and discharge.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide out of hours veterinary cover during night shifts at Solihull Veterinary Hospital.
• Take the lead on surgical and medical cases, including diagnostic investigations.
• Support inpatient care from admission through treatment and discharge.
• Work alongside the wider hospital team, including vets, RVNs, PCAs, receptionists and the dedicated out of hours team.
• Offer guidance to colleagues and contribute to clinical standards where appropriate.

Requirements

• Experienced OOH veterinary surgeon.
• Confident clinical skills with the ability to manage surgical and medical cases.
• Comfortable carrying out diagnostic investigations.
• Strong clinical autonomy.
• Enjoys mentoring and supporting colleagues.
• Good client care skills.
