About the Role

Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists is a multidisciplinary referral hospital offering specialist services across Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Neurology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Soft Tissue Surgery, Internal Medicine, Cardiology and more. This full-time Anaesthesia RVN role offers the opportunity to join a large, dedicated anaesthesia team comprising 5 Anaesthetists, 2 resident Anaesthetists, and 9 Anaesthesia RVNs. You'll receive a comprehensive 8-week induction and benefit from regular in-house CPD lectures, 6-monthly CPR refreshers, and mentorship from 4 senior anaesthesia nurses. The practice is ISFM gold feline accredited and has been recognised with the BVHA design award for providing an outstanding work environment.

Working at Lumbry Park means engaging with complex cases across medicine, neurology, soft tissue, cardiology, and orthopaedics. You'll develop skills in arterial line placement, central venous catheter insertion, and complex case discussions with specialist anaesthetists. Weekend rota is 1:6 with TOIL days received in return, plus 1-2 bank holidays per year, giving you genuine work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor patients ranging from sedations to complex anaesthesia cases across multi-disciplinary referral work
• Place arterial lines and central venous catheters as part of advanced anaesthesia nursing practice
• Participate in complex case discussions with the anaesthesia team
• Support cases including hemilaminectomies, spinal stabilisation, thoracotomies, exploratory laparotomies, pacemaker fittings, balloon valvuloplasty, fracture repairs, and arthroscopic procedures
• Contribute to a collaborative team culture that prioritises patient safety and staff wellbeing
• Engage with in-house CPD and external learning opportunities

Requirements

• RVN qualification (RCVS registered)
• Minimum 1-2 years post-qualifying experience preferred
• Enthusiasm for specialising in anaesthesia and analgesia
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced referral environment
