About the Role

This ECC Veterinary Surgeon opportunity is based at CVS Vets 24/7 Chester, where you will work 1 in 4 Saturday and Sunday daytime shifts. It is described as a fantastic introduction to ECC for a vet who wants to explore emergency and critical care or build on existing clinical experience.

The role combines primary care out of hours consultations, hospitalised patients and case transfers, with support always available when needed. You will be working alongside experienced colleagues in a collaborative environment where clinical excellence, shared knowledge and improvement are encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide emergency and critical care for small animal patients at CVS Vets 24/7 Chester.
• See primary care out of hours consultations.
• Manage hospitalised veterinary inpatients.
• Support case transfers and work with referral support when required.
• Develop emergency medicine and surgical skills through exposure to a varied caseload.

Requirements

• Veterinary Surgeon with 2+ years of small animal experience.
• Good medical and surgical foundations.
• Excellent communication and client care skills.
• Genuine passion for providing exceptional patient care.

About the Practice

CVS Vets 24/7 Chester is a dedicated small animal emergency and out of hours service. It is based within Chestergates Veterinary Specialists, an RCVS-approved referral hospital.

The practice describes a modern, fully equipped environment with advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities. It provides 24-hour care for patients from first opinion member practices, including the management of hospitalised veterinary inpatients, and benefits from access to on-call referral clinicians when additional support is needed.
