ECC Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This weekend ECC Veterinary Surgeon role is based at CVS24 Dovecote Veterinary Hospital in Castle Donington. The rota covers Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 7pm, and the pattern can be arranged as 1 in 2, 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 weekends, depending on your availability.

You’ll be working in a busy multidisciplinary hospital, managing a varied emergency and urgent care caseload with the reassurance of referral-level support close at hand. The role suits vets who want challenging ECC work alongside specialist back-up, advanced diagnostics and a collaborative clinical environment.

The location also brings practical lifestyle appeal, with the Peak District National Park nearby and access to Derby, Nottingham and Leicester.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage weekend emergency and urgent care cases within the CVS24 service.
• Handle medical emergencies, trauma cases, urgent surgical presentations and hospitalised inpatients.
• Work through complex medical and surgical investigations as part of a busy hospital caseload.
• Use referral-level support from neurology and neurosurgery, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery and diagnostic imaging when needed.
• Work collaboratively within the hospital team to deliver excellent patient care.

Requirements

• Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in emergency and urgent care medicine.
• Confidence in prioritising and managing clinical cases.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Commitment to excellent patient and client care.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and varied environment.
• Previous ECC experience is desirable but not essential.

Dovecote Veterinary Hospital is part of CVS24 and sits within CVS Veterinary Group. The hospital offers advanced imaging including CT and MRI, a comprehensive in-house laboratory, dedicated inpatient and intensive care facilities, and referral-level equipment.
