Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

Beechwood Veterinary Centre is looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to join its front-of-house team in Woodley, Berkshire. This is a permanent part time position for 20 hours per week, with shifts spread across Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 19:00.

You will also take part in a 1 in 4 Saturday rota, covering 08:00 to 13:00. The role centres on welcoming clients, handling queries, and keeping the practice organised so pets remain a priority every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and book appointments
• Handle queries by phone, email and face to face with professionalism
• Welcome new clients and complete registration
• Process insurance forms
• Dispense medications as required
• Take payments accurately
• Support clients sensitively during difficult moments
• Use the in-house system to organise patients
• Liaise with other veterinary practices about patient needs and queries
• Make calls regarding debts, belongings and refunds
• Help maintain a welcoming client experience at the practice

Requirements

• Previous experience as a receptionist or in a demanding, client-focused role
• Veterinary reception experience is a bonus
• Resilience when handling emotional situations
• Strong communication skills and genuine empathy
• Good customer service skills and experience dealing with the public
• A positive attitude and teamwork skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems
• Right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for clinical support roles
