About the Role

St David's Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly team in Exeter. This is a permanent, on site role in a fully equipped small animal hospital, with 40 hours worked across 4 days.

The rota includes 1 in 3 Saturdays from 8:30am to 6:30pm. Nights and Sundays are covered in-house by CVS Vets 24/7 EVES, and some branch cover may be required in Exminster. The role sits within a practice that has been supporting pets and clients in Exeter since 1941.

You will be joining a close knit clinical team with strong support from experienced vets, nurses, reception and administration colleagues. The practice also supports career development and has helped team members progress, gain certificates and develop their areas of interest.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first opinion small animal veterinary care at St David's (Exeter).
• Carry out regular check ups, routine procedures, surgery and treatment for patients.
• Take on a varied caseload and use diagnostic investigations confidently.
• Contribute to the practice's orthopaedic and soft tissue referral work when required.
• Work alongside certificate holders, nurses, reception and administrative colleagues.
• Support branch cover in Exminster when needed.

Requirements

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon.
• Experience in small animal practice.
• Confidence in clinical work and diagnostic investigations.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload.
• Interest in mentoring, supporting colleagues and contributing to clinical standards.
• Commitment to delivering good client care and ongoing development.

About the Practice

St David's Veterinary Hospital is a CVS practice in Exeter, Devon, and has been established since 1941. It is a fully equipped small animal hospital offering regular check ups, routine procedures and treatment, alongside a long running orthopaedic referral service.

The practice has been providing orthopaedic referral care for more than 25 years, including cruciate ligament surgery and total hip replacements. It also takes laparoscopic procedures and other soft tissue referrals, and is supported by a skilled team of vets, nurses, reception and administrative staff, including certificate holders in medicine, feline medicine and emergency and critical care.
