Laboratory Technician

About the Role

You’ll be joining the Newton Abbot Laboratory as a Laboratory Technician, working in the Microbiology department of a busy commercial veterinary diagnostic setting. The role focuses on processing clinical samples for microbiological analysis, supporting veterinary practices across the country.

This is a permanent position for 32 hours per week, working Monday to Friday with the potential requirement to work Saturdays. The salary is in line with the NMW.

Key Responsibilities

• Process clinical samples in preparation for microbiological analysis.
• Support the work of a busy diagnostic pathology laboratory serving veterinary practices nationwide.
• Carry out work accurately and with close attention to detail in a commercial laboratory environment.

Requirements

• Good communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems.
• High attention to detail.
• Fine motor dexterity.
• A strong work ethic.
• No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided.
• Right to work in the UK is required, as visa sponsorship is not available for this clinical support role.

About the Practice

Axiom Veterinary Laboratories operates a busy diagnostic pathology facility in Newton Abbot, Devon. The laboratory processes veterinary samples for clinical diagnostic purposes and supports a large group of veterinary practices across the country.

The role sits within CVS Vets, a large UK veterinary group with a network of more than 500 practices, hospitals and laboratories, and over 8,000 professionals.
