Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

This Veterinary Receptionist position is a 12-month fixed term maternity cover role at Old Courts Veterinary Centre in Brigg. The post is part-time, with working days on Tuesday and Friday, plus a 1:5 share of the Saturday rota.

You will be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, helping the practice run smoothly while making sure people feel welcomed, listened to and supported. The role sits within CVS Vets, a large veterinary group with more than 500 practices and over 8,000 professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and book appointments.
• Handle client queries by phone, email and in person.
• Welcome and register new clients at reception.
• Process insurance forms, payments, refunds and debt-related calls where needed.
• Dispense medications as required.
• Use the in-house system to organise patients and liaise with other practices.
• Support clients with empathy and professionalism during difficult moments.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a receptionist or in a demanding, client-focused role is essential.
• Experience in a veterinary setting is beneficial but not required.
• Strong communication skills and genuine empathy.
• Resilience when dealing with emotional situations.
• Good customer service skills and confidence working with the public.
• A positive attitude and strong teamwork.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
• Right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for clinical support roles.
