This full-time position offers a four-day week with a set day off each week, providing genuine work-life balance alongside a manageable 1 in 5 out-of-hours rota. You'll be joining Derwent Vale Farm Vets, a proudly independent practice formed when a local mixed operation split into dedicated small animal and farm divisions.
Based in Pickering, North Yorkshire, you'll be ideally positioned to enjoy the surrounding landscape: the North York Moors, proximity to the seaside, and easy access to historic York. Your caseload will be wonderfully varied, with clients split across 35% dairy operations, beef herds, and sheep farming. You'll encounter everything from progressive dairy units to small traditional herds, pedigree beef and sheep operations, commercial sucklers, and hill ewes, plus smallholders and goats.
Beyond routine clinical work, the practice runs regular clubs and meetings for farm clients and delivers Red Tractor-approved training and MilkSure programmes to support farmers' knowledge of responsible medicine use. The practice maintains on-site facilities for small ruminant hospitalisation and surgical procedures.
Derwent Vale Farm Vets is an independent farm practice formed following the division of a mixed practice into dedicated small animal and farm operations. The team includes experienced vets, a Farm SQP, Vet-Tech, certificate holders, and DBR-qualified staff, all committed to supporting the local farming community. The practice is active in farmer education and compliance, running regular clubs and delivering accredited training programmes.
