No out-of-hours or on-call duties. All emergency and critical care managed by Vets Now on site.
This is a rare advanced practitioner development position designed to transition an experienced GP vet into a permanent Internal Medicine referral role. You'll split your time between busy first-opinion small animal work and supervised referral exposure, with approximately two days weekly on GP cases and two days alongside the Internal Medicine team. Over three years, you'll follow a structured training and mentoring programme with the clear intention of progressing into a full-time Internal Medicine referral position.
The ideal working pattern is 35 hours per week across four days, with shifts between 8:30am and 7:30pm Monday to Friday. Weekend cover is fair and light at one in four, involving Saturday morning until 12:30pm and a short Sunday shift. There are no out-of-hours or on-call duties; all emergency and critical care is fully managed by Vets Now, based on site within the same hospital building.
Based in Belfast, you'll be part of a vibrant, welcoming city known for its culture, history and stunning natural surroundings, offering excellent restaurants, nightlife and breathtaking coastal and mountain landscapes.
