Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Goddard Brixton in South London is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its GP branch team. The practice has been established on Brixton Hill for over 20 years, and this role is focused on helping strengthen client relationships, support day-to-day branch life and contribute to a busy, friendly clinical environment.

You will be working alongside a trainee nurse and a vet, with the opportunity to run nurse clinics and help the practice continue to develop. The rota can be 32 hours per week in Brixton, or 4 days in Brixton and 1 day elsewhere to build full-time hours. It includes a 1:3 branch Saturday rota, a 1:10 Saturday rotation in Stone Lion Hospital, and 1 bank holiday per year. There are no on-call requirements.

The practice is between Streatham Hill and Brixton stations, around a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute cycle away.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high quality and continuously improving nursing care in a branch practice setting.
• Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations when required.
• Maintain accurate patient hospitalisation records and records for hospitalised patients.
• Support the comfort and welfare of pets in care.
• Keep equipment cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly.
• Monitor stock levels and place orders for drugs, diets and consumables as needed.
• Assist with induction and training of new staff.
• Cover reception duties when required, handling clients and pets in person, by email and by telephone.
• Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.

Requirements

• RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse status.
• Comfort working in GP branch practice.
• Ability to build rapport with clients and their pets.
• Willingness to support a trainee nurse and work collaboratively with the vet.
• Interest in nurse clinics is beneficial.
• Leadership training can be provided for the right person.
