Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This part-time Veterinary Surgeon role is based at Goddard Vet Group's Putney practice, a first opinion GP clinic in a London village setting close to the River Thames, Putney High Street and Putney Station.

You will work a sole charge two-day week on Thursdays and Fridays, supported by a rota that includes a 1:3 branch Saturday, a 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation and one bank holiday per year. There are no on-call requirements.

The Putney team currently includes one associate vet and a clinical support team focused on building strong client relationships and delivering patient care. The practice is also in a new phase of growth, with a senior RVN being recruited alongside this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out consultations and make evidence-based management and treatment recommendations in line with practice protocols.
• Perform surgery where appropriate and within your own competence, taking account of overnight care limitations.
• Prescribe, dispense and maintain medications in line with current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
• Keep clear, accurate clinical records that are useful to colleagues.
• Refer cases promptly when they cannot be managed in practice, including referral to the group hospital where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with the RVN to support branch meetings and follow clinic SOPs.
• Oversee the consulting and surgical or diagnostic diary in line with company policies.

Requirements

• Experience as a veterinary surgeon.
• Comfort working sole charge on the listed rota.
• Interest in diagnostic imaging would be an advantage, as ultrasound facilities have recently been added to the practice.

Benefits

• Salary band of £45,000 to £90,000 FTE, with the part-time role paid at £26,100 to £52,200 depending on experience and weekend rotation.

About the Practice

The role is with Goddard Vet Group at its Putney practice, a popular first opinion GP clinic in Southwest London. The team is supported by a nearby 24-hour Stone Lion hospital, which also provides out-of-hours cover.

The practice has recently added ultrasound facilities and is led with additional clinical support from the regional head vet, Julie, alongside a dedicated regional manager.
