About the Role

This Barking branch role is for an RVN who is comfortable working sole charge and taking responsibility for the day-to-day organisation of the practice alongside the vet. The position is part-time, with up to 3 days a week between Wednesday and Friday, 8 hours per day, and Friday is the mandatory day. If you are looking for 2 days, that can be explored.

The rota also includes a 1:2 branch Saturday afternoon and a 1:10 Sunday rotation in Wanstead Hospital, plus 1 bank holiday per year. There are no on-call requirements. Barking sits on the outskirts of urban Essex, and the practice is a 10-minute drive from Wanstead. If you travel by public transport, Barking overground and the Circle line are around a 6-minute walk away.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide sole charge RVN support in a first opinion GP branch practice
• Manage the day-to-day organisation of the practice alongside the vet
• Work across clinical nursing and client care in a branch environment
• Support the practice to run smoothly during busy and less straightforward days
• Take part in the branch Saturday afternoon rota and Sunday rotation at Wanstead Hospital

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse qualification
• Comfort working in a sole charge RVN position
• Confidence managing branch-based day-to-day organisation
• Enjoyment of a GP environment and building bonds with clients

About the Practice

This is Goddard Veterinary Group’s Barking first opinion GP practice. The wider group celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2022 and now has 46 branches, three hospitals and its own nurse training college. The group also describes itself as part of the VetPartners family.

Clinical support comes from Wanstead 24-hour hospital, which provides OOH and internal referral care for surrounding branches. Wanstead also offers CT, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team and experienced surgeons carrying out advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue and minimally invasive surgery on site.
