Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse position is based in Fulham, where you'll join a friendly, experienced team in a thriving practice. The role suits someone who leads with confidence, kindness and a calm approach, and who enjoys mentoring others while delivering excellent patient care.

You’ll be working full-time, 40 hours per week, with a 1 in 4 Saturday rotation at the branch and a 1 in 10 Saturday rotation at Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon. You’ll also work one bank holiday each year at Stone Lion, and there are no on-call requirements.

The practice is fully equipped with two consulting rooms, a spacious prep and theatre area, a comprehensive in-house laboratory and a dedicated colleague rest area. It has a loyal client base, and the location is a 7-minute walk from Fulham Broadway station.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the nursing team and help maintain improving standards of nursing care.
• Support the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations when required.
• Deliver nursing care that supports the comfort and welfare of pets in the practice.
• Use Schedule 3 skills as directed.
• Oversee servicing and day-to-day upkeep of diagnostic, surgical and medical equipment and instruments.
• Carry out the weekly Controlled Drugs audit in line with protocol.
• Support reception staff and help maintain a high standard of client care.
• Manage the daily running of the reception area and handle clients and pets efficiently in person, by email and over the telephone.
• Act as a clinical supervisor for student nurses.

• Experienced Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse.
• Confident decision-maker with a calm, steady approach.

• Able to mentor student veterinary nurses.
• Happy to work alongside a sole-charge Veterinary Surgeon.

About the Practice

This vacancy is with Goddard Veterinary Group, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2022 and now has 46 branches, three hospitals and its own nurse training college. The Fulham practice is supported by Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon for complex referrals and out-of-hours care, as well as by Regional Head Vet Julie, whose support and guidance are described as invaluable to the team.
