Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You’ll be joining Wanstead Veterinary Hospital as a Receptionist, where you’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets. The role is based on £26,436.80 for 40 hours per week, and the hospital is considering either one full-time Receptionist working four 10-hour shifts each week or two part-time Receptionists, with the working pattern agreed around the needs of the hospital.

A 1-in-3 weekend rota is part of the role. In a busy clinical setting, you’ll help create a calm and welcoming experience, support the wider team and keep the reception desk running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome clients and their pets to the hospital and help them feel at ease.
• Answer telephone calls and respond to client enquiries.
• Book appointments and support the day-to-day running of the reception desk.
• Process payments and keep client records up to date.
• Liaise with vets, nurses and other colleagues to help clients receive a helpful and efficient service.
• Support clients with empathy and understanding when they are worried about their pets.

Requirements

• Previous reception or customer service experience is preferred.
• Confidence communicating face to face and over the phone.
• A friendly, professional and approachable manner.
• Strong organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
• A team-focused attitude and willingness to support colleagues across the hospital.
• Compassion and understanding, with an appreciation for the bond between pets and their owners.
• Veterinary reception experience would be an advantage.
• Transferable customer service skills are welcomed.

About the Practice

Wanstead Veterinary Hospital is described as a busy clinical setting where reception plays an important role in supporting both clients and colleagues. There is no on-site parking available, so alternative travel arrangements will be needed.
