Heartland Veterinary Services
Apply before: May 30, 2026
1:5 out-of-hours rota including weekends and weeknights, with time off in lieu following weekends. No routine weekend day work outside of OOH commitments.
This is a genuinely varied mixed animal position at Heartland Veterinary Services, where you’ll work across a balanced caseload in one of Scotland’s most picturesque regions. With approximately 60% small animal and 40% large animal work, you’ll develop broad clinical skills across species while working within a close-knit, experienced team. The role is available on a full-time or part-time basis with flexible working patterns supported where possible, and you’ll participate in a manageable 1:5 out-of-hours rota with time off in lieu following weekends—no routine weekend day work outside of OOH commitments.
Based across two sites (Aberfeldy main hub and Pitlochry branch), you’ll be surrounded by mountains, rivers, and lochs, with excellent access to Perth, Dundee, Stirling, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. This is mixed practice with real depth: you’ll encounter beef cattle, sheep, pigs, deer, poultry, and camelids on the farm side; equine vaccinations, dentistry, and occasional colic cases; and a full small animal caseload including dogs, cats, and rabbits.
Heartland Veterinary Services is a well-resourced, two-site mixed animal practice in Highland Perthshire operated under the IVC Evidensia group. The team comprises 5 experienced vets, 3 nurses, a student nurse, and 6 support staff, creating a collaborative and supportive clinical environment. The practice is equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, Ovacyte faecal analyser, stance analyser, PRP therapy kit, bull fertility testing equipment, and a motorised equine dental kit—enabling diverse clinical work across small animal, farm, and equine disciplines.
IVC Evidensia is the UK and Europe’s leading veterinary care group, encompassing over 900 practices and referral hospitals. The group is committed to supporting career development without limits, offering clear progression pathways across primary care, referral, leadership, and specialist roles, alongside investment in learning, innovation, and team wellbeing.
