This is a genuine mixed veterinary position combining small animal and ambulatory large animal work in approximately equal measure, with a strong equine bias within the large animal caseload. You'll work on a structured two-week rotation between disciplines, giving you real variety and the chance to develop depth in both areas. The role is full-time and includes participation in an equally shared out-of-hours rota.
Based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, the practice enjoys a location in the heart of the Pennine countryside while remaining within easy reach of Leeds, Manchester and the wider Yorkshire region. Accommodation and a vehicle can be provided where required.
Hird and Partners is a long-established, proudly independent veterinary practice with a history dating back almost 200 years. The practice became Hird and Partners in 1993 and has grown to operate a network including a modern, purpose-built small animal clinic in Halifax, small animal branch surgeries in Ripponden and Walsden, and a state-of-the-art equine hospital in Shelf with additional equine clinics in Cheshire and Sheffield. The team comprises over 30 veterinary surgeons with a wide range of skills, qualifications and clinical interests, supported by an extensive network of veterinary nurses, receptionists and administration staff.
The practice holds Tier 2 accreditation of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme and provides all its own out-of-hours emergency cover, ensuring clients have access to familiar veterinary surgeons and excellent continuity of patient care.
