Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

This is a varied and fast-paced reception role at the heart of a busy small animal practice. You'll be welcoming clients in person and over the phone, managing complex appointments, handling payments, and supporting the clinical team in a professional yet friendly environment. The role includes daytime work with one Saturday shift per month (7:45am to 2pm), and you'll split your time between the main hospital in Hook Norton and branch sites in Charlbury or Moreton-in-Marsh.

Located in the picturesque Cotswolds, this independent practice blends routine pet care with emergency work, so no two days are quite the same. You'll need your own transport due to the rural location, but free on-site parking is provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Greeting clients warmly in person and by telephone
• Booking appointments across multiple online platforms, often managing complex scheduling
• Processing payments and supporting dispensing duties
• Occasional animal handling at branch sites
• Managing stock rotation and maintaining tidy, efficient reception areas
• Handling administrative tasks including insurance processing
• Responding professionally to urgent requests in a fast-moving environment

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of customer service experience (veterinary, healthcare, retail, or hospitality backgrounds are ideal)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a friendly, confident telephone manner
• High IT literacy and ability to quickly learn new systems
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and follow strict protocols accurately
• Own transport (essential due to rural location)
