Surgery Referral Nurse

About the Role

This part-time position offers you the chance to work as a Surgery Referral Nurse within a specialist referral hospital, supporting a varied and complex surgical caseload. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering advanced nursing care, working closely with experienced clinicians across the wider hospital. The role is based Wednesday to Friday, 32 hours per week, with participation in weekend, bank holiday and out-of-hours rotas as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Support anaesthesia monitoring and deliver high-quality peri-operative nursing care
• Prepare patients, equipment and theatre environments for surgical procedures
• Provide post-operative monitoring and inpatient care
• Monitor patients during diagnostic imaging procedures
• Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary hospital team, contributing specialist nursing expertise and sharing knowledge with colleagues
• Support clinical decision-making and contribute to continuous improvement in standards

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Significant experience in clinical practice with advanced nursing skills relevant to surgical nursing
• Experience working with complex medical or surgical cases in a referral or advanced-care setting
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• A commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and continuous improvement
