Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sussex Coast Vets, a modern small animal practice based in Bexhill-on-Sea with a second site in nearby 1066. You'll work flexibly across both locations or concentrate on one site, with a company car available for travel between sites. The role is daytime-only with no out-of-hours or bank holiday commitments, offering 4 to 5 days per week at hours ranging from 8:30am to 7:00pm, plus a Saturday morning rota (8:00am-12:00pm) typically one in four weeks.

You'll be joining a strong, experienced clinical team including a certificate holder in orthopaedics, along with dedicated nurses and support staff. The practice is well-equipped with digital X-ray, Doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, blood analysers, and comprehensive diagnostic equipment. Located in coastal Bexhill-on-Sea, you'll enjoy easy access to Brighton, London, and Gatwick Airport, with a charming town centre, vibrant arts scene, and famous seafood and wine festivals nearby.

This is an established practice that values collaboration with local charities, including involvement in the RSPCA Neutering Scheme for cats and bull-breeds. The team is genuinely interested in supporting your clinical interests and professional development through funded CPD and postgraduate qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-standard patient and client care across a varied and rewarding small animal caseload
• Work collaboratively with the wider clinical team, contributing to a positive and supportive practice culture
• Develop your clinical skills while sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues
• Lead and support team members as part of an integrated clinical unit
• Participate in routine medical and surgical cases with growing confidence

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• Proactive approach to learning and openness to feedback
• Professionalism and reliability, able to work both independently and collaboratively
• Passion for delivering excellent patient and client care
