Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

About the Role

Join a dynamic small animal practice in the heart of East Grinstead, a town with excellent leisure facilities, easy train links to London, and proximity to Ashdown Forest, Brighton, and the South Downs. This flexible role offers genuine work-life balance: no night-time out-of-hours commitment, just one Saturday morning in three, and the option to work full-time across 4 days or part-time hours. One late finish per week (7.30pm) is built in, but the rest of your schedule is genuinely yours.

You'll deliver a varied and rewarding caseload alongside an established clinical team of 6 vets and 6 nurses, supported by 2 practice managers. This is a role where you'll develop your clinical confidence, share knowledge with colleagues, and contribute to a values-led culture centred on excellent patient and client care.

Day-to-day work includes consultations, medical case workup, and routine surgery. You'll have support from experienced colleagues as you grow your clinical interests and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct consultations and deliver diagnostics across a mixed small animal caseload
• Manage medical cases and routine surgical procedures with support from the clinical team
• Build effective client relationships and communicate clinical findings clearly
• Contribute positively to the clinical culture and mentor less-experienced colleagues where appropriate
• Take responsibility for patient welfare and maintain high clinical standards
• Participate in the practice's Saturday morning rota (1 in 3)

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective client relationships
• Proactive approach to learning, openness to feedback, and commitment to professional development
• Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Passion for delivering excellent patient and client care
