Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join New Street Vets, a friendly and experienced first-opinion small animal practice in Honiton, Devon. You'll work full-time (40 hours across four or five days) or part-time from 30 hours per week, with the flexibility to shape your schedule around your life. The rota includes just 1:4 Saturday mornings (9:00am to 1:00pm) and no out-of-hours or on-call commitments, giving you genuine work-life balance.

Nestled in charming East Devon near the Jurassic Coast, Honiton blends market town character with easy access to beautiful beaches, scenic walks and countryside living. Excellent transport links connect you to Exeter, Taunton and the wider South West.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-opinion small animal veterinary care to a diverse caseload including dogs, cats, rabbits, small furries and occasional exotic species such as chickens and local wildlife
• Deliver an excellent balance of consultations and surgical procedures, with flexibility to focus more heavily on surgery if that's your interest
• Work collaboratively with experienced veterinary surgeons and RVNs across New Street Vets and sister practice Otter Vets, sharing knowledge and broadening clinical experience
• Gain exposure to emergency and critical care cases through inter-practice collaboration
• Maintain high standards of patient care using modern practice facilities and equipment

Requirements

• RCVS registration as a veterinary surgeon (MRCVS)
• Qualification in small animal practice or equivalent experience
• Strong clinical knowledge and practical skills in general veterinary medicine and surgery
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical excellence

About the Practice

New Street Vets is part of IVC Evidensia, the UK's number one vet care provider. The practice is housed in a charming converted property close to Honiton's high street, combining a welcoming community atmosphere with modern clinical facilities. You'll have access to dedicated consulting rooms, a dental radiography suite, a recently installed ultrasound machine and a comprehensive in-house laboratory. An exciting refurbishment is also underway.

The team comprises experienced veterinary surgeons, registered veterinary nurses and a supportive practice manager who genuinely enjoy working together.
