About the Role
This is a small animal Veterinary Surgeon role at Midland Veterinary Surgery in Leyton, London, within an established single-site first-opinion practice. The caseload is varied, with scope to focus on consultations, surgery or more complex medical work depending on your strengths.
You’ll be part of a close-knit clinical team that includes 5 vets, 4 RVNs, 1 SVN, 1 care assistant and a supportive reception team. The practice describes a strong emphasis on case continuity, contextualised care and an open-door culture where ideas for improving clinical standards and team education are welcomed.
The rota is built around 30 hours across 3 to 5 days, with an earliest start of 8:00 AM and no more than two 7:30 PM late finishes per week. Saturdays are 1:3, running from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, usually alongside another vet. There are no OOH duties and sole charge is very limited.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-opinion consultations, medical workups or routine surgical procedures in line with your clinical strengths.
- Manage a varied small animal caseload with a focus on continuity of care.
- Use in-house diagnostics, dental x-ray and visiting specialist support in day-to-day clinical work.
- Contribute to clinical governance and share ideas that support patient care and team learning.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the veterinary, nursing and reception teams.
- Follow the stated rota of 30 hours over 3 to 5 days, including the 1:3 Saturday rota.
Requirements
- A veterinary degree and RCVS registration, or eligibility to register.
- Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
- A proactive approach to learning and openness to feedback.

About the Practice
Midland Veterinary Surgery is an established, single-site first-opinion general practice within IVC Evidensia. The practice treats dogs, cats and small pets, and is described as rabbit friendly.
The site is equipped with dental x-ray and ultrasound, and the team works with visiting ultrasound specialists and soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeons. Management is on site every day, supporting continuity and day-to-day clinical teamwork.
