Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

About the Role

This part-time veterinary surgeon position offers up to 32 hours per week across Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and one Saturday morning per month (1:5 rota, 08:00-13:00). You'll be based primarily at the main Newport Pagnell site with some consulting sessions at the Olney branch. The practice actively encourages case follow-through and clinical autonomy, holding regular clinical team meetings to support collaborative learning and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient and client care across a varied small animal caseload (dogs, cats, rabbits, small pets)
• Perform routine medical and surgical procedures with growing confidence and clinical autonomy
• Contribute to the clinical culture through knowledge-sharing and mentoring of colleagues
• Collaborate with the 8.1 FTE clinical team and 8.8 FTE RVN team to ensure excellent outcomes
• Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and current RCVS registration (or eligible to register)
• Experience working in clinical practice with competence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Professional, reliable approach with openness to feedback and continuous development
• A relevant certificate (medicine, exotics, or other) is desirable but not essential

Willow Veterinary Centre is part of IVC Evidensia (trading as inspiring vet care), the UK's largest veterinary care provider. The practice has an experienced clinical team of 8.1 FTE vets, including certificate holders in medicine and exotics, supported by 8.8 FTE RVNs. The team is known for its longevity and supportive atmosphere, with many staff members having worked there for 10 or more years.

The practice is well-equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, flexible and rigid endoscopy, in-house laboratory, and dental x-ray facilities.
