About the Role

Join Kings Veterinary Centre as a Registered Veterinary Nurse and experience a genuinely balanced nursing career. You’ll rotate throughout the working week between inpatient care, theatre support, and consulting room work, giving you exposure to a varied small animal caseload across a well-resourced practice. This is a full-time position working four days a week on an 8:00am–6:00pm or 8:30am–6:30pm shift pattern (with paid lunch breaks), creating the kind of schedule that actually allows you to have a life outside work.

The practice operates its own 24/7 out-of-hours service with dedicated night nurses, so there’s no weeknight on-call required for this role. You will participate in a 1:5 Saturday and Sunday day rota, plus an equal share of bank holidays, giving you predictable, manageable commitments.

Kings Veterinary Centre is an RCVS-accredited first opinion practice with five branches and a hospital across the Melton Mowbray area. Exciting news: the team is relocating to a brand-new hospital at the end of 2025, a stone’s throw from the current Melton site—bringing modern facilities and fresh energy to the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing support across inpatient wards, theatre, and consulting room settings
• Assist with a varied caseload of small animal patients in a first opinion environment
• Participate in the shared 1:5 weekend day rota (currently running at 1:8 frequency)
• Contribute to the practice’s commitment to high-standard, affordable care and community engagement
• Work collaboratively within a dedicated team of clinical and non-clinical staff across the five-branch network

Requirements

• Current RVN registration (RCVS)
• Experience in small animal nursing
• Ability to work flexibly within a rotating rota system (though no weeknight on-call)
