Out-of-hours shifts are very limited: weekday evenings 6:30 pm–9 pm and weekends 8:30 am–5 pm. Flexible rota patterns available.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive small animal practice where flexibility isn’t just offered—it’s embedded in the culture. You’ll work between 20–36 hours per week, with out-of-hours duties kept minimal (6:30 pm–9 pm on weekdays and 8:30 am–5 pm weekends). Whether you prefer a consulting-only role or want to balance consults with surgery, the team will accommodate your preference. Every shift gives you the chance to do both consults and procedures, with 15-minute appointment slots and built-in catch-up time to ensure you’re never rushing or sacrificing patient care.

Based in Nantwich, a charming market town with easy access to the M6, Crewe railway station, and stunning nearby landscapes—the Peak District, Lake District, North Wales, and London are all within easy reach. The area offers excellent schools, a lovely high street, and beautiful parks, making it ideal for those seeking both professional growth and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality small animal consultations and surgical procedures
  • Work collaboratively with a team of 14 vets (mostly part-time), experienced nurses, and support staff
  • Contribute to case discussions and clinical development within the practice
  • Participate in the practice’s training culture, sharing knowledge and learning from colleagues with diverse interests and expertise
  • Engage with local referral networks and maintain professional relationships
  • Support quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS)
  • Experience in small animal practice (newly qualified vets welcome with appropriate supervision)
  • Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to the practice’s supportive, collaborative environment

Leonard Brothers Veterinary Centre is a modern, well-equipped small animal practice serving Nantwich and Wistaston. The practice is part of IVC Evidensia, a leading veterinary group within Mars Veterinary Health, combining independent practice values with access to wider resources and support.
