🕐 Schedule & Rota

Weekend duties once every 6 weeks with 2 days in lieu the following week. No regular night shifts—dedicated night nursing team in place. Shifts run 7:30am–8:30pm Monday to Friday.

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week with shifts between 7:30am and 8:30pm, Monday to Friday. You’ll enjoy just one weekend duty every 6 weeks (with 2 days in lieu the following week), meaning genuine work-life balance alongside the excitement of referral practice.

You’ll rotate through five different wards, diagnostics, and theatre departments, exposing you to a varied and rewarding caseload across multiple specialisms. Working alongside over 60 RVNs, 31 recognised specialists, and a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, residents, interns and nursing assistants, you’ll develop your skills in surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, oncology, neurology, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia. Referral experience isn’t essential—comprehensive induction and training will set you up for success.

This practice is an internationally acknowledged centre of excellence with RCVS accreditation. The new Nursing Pathways programme offers individualised career progression opportunities whilst maintaining and developing your core veterinary nursing skills—a structured way forward for nurses serious about their career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care across five dedicated ward areas, supporting diverse patient presentations
  • Rotate through diagnostics and theatre departments, utilising your full range of trained nursing skills
  • Work as part of a large multidisciplinary team, collaborating with RVNs, specialists, residents, interns and nursing assistants
  • Provide compassionate, high-standard patient care within a specialist referral environment
  • Contribute to a culture of teamwork and dedication across all service areas
  • Engage with the Nursing Pathways programme to shape your career development

Requirements

  • Current RVN registration with the RCVS
  • Full-time availability on a permanent basis
  • Flexibility to rotate across different departments and specialisms
  • Team player with dedication to patient care and colleague support
  • Referral experience is not essential—full training provided
