Ready to join a genuinely supportive team where Friday cake is mandatory and work-life balance is real? Cherrydown Vets is a fun, family-style practice growing its vet team in Essex—with flexible hours, great kit, and colleagues who actually care.
You'll be joining Cherrydown Vets as part of a 4-vet practice, working alongside the Lead Vet and Clinical Nursing Manager to deliver high-quality small animal care. This is a part-time permanent role offering genuine flexibility—the practice actively welcomes discussions about working patterns that suit you. Based in Basildon with excellent public transport links to Essex and parts of London, you'll enjoy a varied caseload in medicine and surgery, with a dedicated day for operations.
The team is known for being fun and collaborative, hosting regular social events and bringing homemade cake every Friday. You'll work with a strong nursing and support team in a well-equipped practice featuring a large imaging suite, new X-ray machine, laparoscopy kit, 5 consultation rooms, 2 operating theatres, separate cattery and kennels, and a goodbye room. You'll also have access to close working relationships with specialist hospitals, including Southfields Referrals.
Cherrydown Vets is part of Linnaeus and Mars Veterinary Health, the largest family-owned veterinary company in the world. The practice is a small animal hospital delivering high-quality care with a focus on team welfare and knowledge sharing. Being privately owned, Linnaeus can be driven by its purpose—to create a better world for pets—rather than short-term profits.

You'll have access to a huge network of specialists, worldwide development opportunities, and a comprehensive wellbeing package prioritising both physical and mental health.
