A four day week, no OOH and a genuinely varied in-house caseload make this a strong small animal vet role for someone with some experience. You will also have access to a supportive, certificate-led team and plenty of scope to keep developing clinically.
Vets Now take all OOHs. There is one paid 7 pm finish every two weeks for emergency calls before Vets Now opens, usually phone triage.
You will be joining the small animal side of MacArthur Barstow & Gibbs as an additional vet in a 14-vet team. The practice offers a broad mix of medical and surgical work in house, with scope to develop your interests while working alongside experienced colleagues.
The rota is built around sustainability, with a 4-day week, fixed day off, no OOH once the practice is closed and a regular pattern of consulting and operating time that leaves room for admin and phone calls. Weekend cover is shared on a 16-week rota, with two Saturdays and two full Saturday and Sunday weekends across that cycle.
This is a role for a vet who wants to get involved in more complex cases, build confidence and benefit from hands-on support. The practice also works closely with visiting clinicians, including referral and specialist support, which gives you exposure to a wide range of cases.
MacArthur Barstow & Gibbs Veterinary Surgeons is an independent, vet-owned practice that has been established for over 60 years and has served the local community for more than six decades. The practice operates from four purpose-built premises and provides both routine and more specialised in-house veterinary care.
The wider team includes certificate-holding vets, RVNs, SVNs and visiting clinicians. The practice also has facilities such as dental X-ray, gastroscopy, laparoscopic kits, ultrasound, a surgical microscope and a dedicated orthopaedic and soft tissue theatre suite. Its website is mbgvet.com.
