Join a thriving small animal practice on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal, where five experienced RVNs work collaboratively with ten vets in a modern, well-equipped facility. This is daytime-only nursing with Saturday mornings—no nights, no on-call.

No nights or out-of-hours on-call. Daytime hours only: shifts alternate between 8:30am–4:30pm and 10:30am–6:30pm, with one Saturday morning per five-week cycle (8:30am–12:30pm).

About the Role

Martin Veterinary Centre is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a supportive clinical team delivering first opinion small animal care. Based in Kirkintilloch on the scenic Southbank Marina, this full-time role offers a genuine work-life balance: five-day weeks with shifts alternating between 8:30am–4:30pm and 10:30am–6:30pm, plus one Saturday morning per five-week cycle (8:30am–12:30pm). No nights, no out-of-hours—just good quality nursing in a modern practice.

The practice is well-resourced with five consulting rooms, two theatres, a dedicated prep and recovery area, digital x-ray (including dental), isolation facilities, and an on-site laboratory. You’ll work alongside a team of ten veterinary surgeons—including two with GP certificates in small animal surgery and medicine, and three more currently studying for medicine certificates—creating an environment rich with learning and clinical depth.

Located on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal, the practice offers beautiful walking routes perfect for lunch breaks or unwinding after your shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care across medical and surgical cases within a first opinion setting
  • Collaborate with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to support excellent patient outcomes
  • Assist with theatre work, post-operative recovery, and patient monitoring
  • Contribute to clinical standards and support ongoing patient care development within the practice
  • Build positive relationships with clients and colleagues, demonstrating strong communication
  • Manage your workload effectively and take a proactive approach to reflection and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (current and valid)
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
