Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

You'll be the backbone of the practice, supporting nurses and veterinary surgeons with in-patient procedures and day-to-day pet care. This is a full-time position based in Borehamwood where you'll deliver exceptional care to patients and clients in a collaborative, supportive environment. Your responsibilities will range from assisting in surgical procedures to ensuring animals receive the attentive care they need throughout their stay. The role demands someone who thrives under pressure, stays calm during busy periods, and genuinely enjoys working with animals and people. Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional care during surgeries and procedures, maintaining high standards of practice and regulatory compliance
• Monitor and care for hospitalised pets, including walking, toileting, feeding and general wellbeing
• Support nursing and veterinary staff with in-patient management and clinical tasks
• Work collaboratively within the practice team to deliver outstanding client service
• Maintain a calm, organised approach during busy clinic sessions

Requirements

• Must be over 18 years old (Health and Safety Executive requirement for this role)
• Passion for animal care and client communication
• Ability to prioritise, remain calm under pressure, and work flexibly
• Willingness to learn and develop skills on the job
• Team player with a professional approach to patient and client care
