Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA)

About the Role

You’ll be at the heart of patient care in a busy London practice, supporting vets and nurses with in-patient procedures, post-operative monitoring, and day-to-day pet care. Your role is about delivering exceptional care to every patient and reassuring every client who walks through the door.

The position runs on an 8-hour shift pattern, with two options: 8:30am–5:00pm or 11am–7:30pm, Monday to Friday. You’ll also work 1 in 4 weekends at the Kensington 24-hour hospital on 8-hour shifts, plus the occasional bank holiday (typically 1–2 per year). This gives you predictable weekday routine with structured weekend commitment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on patient care including walking, toileting, feeding, and post-operative monitoring
• Support vets and nurses during surgeries and procedures, maintaining compliance with all regulatory and practice standards
• Deliver exceptional client-facing care, ensuring a welcoming experience for owners and their pets
• Work collaboratively within a supportive team environment, staying calm under pressure and adapting to changing priorities

Requirements

• Passion for pet care and delivering exceptional client service
• Ability to prioritise workload and remain calm under pressure
• Team player with a willingness to learn and flexibility to adapt
• Must be 18 years or over (Health and Safety Executive requirement for this role)
