Client Care Assistant

About the Role

You'll be the first point of contact for every client call and visit, setting the tone for their experience at the practice. This full-time role is based at Medivet's New Cross location, with weekend rota work on a 1 in 3 basis covering both New Cross and the nearby Camberwell hospital. Your warmth, efficiency, and calm demeanor under pressure will be the foundation of a smooth-running reception team.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet clients on arrival and manage check-in processes, maintaining accurate records
• Answer client phone calls and manage messages promptly and professionally
• Triage emergency appointments, contacting clients to assess urgency and rearrange bookings as needed
• Manage the practice diary to optimise appointment availability based on team skillset
• Ensure online appointment slots remain available for clients to book independently
• Process repeat prescription requests
• Work collaboratively as part of a supportive reception team
• Weekend work on a rotational basis: 1 in 3 Saturdays or Sundays across New Cross or Camberwell
• Bank holiday cover on a rotating schedule as clinics require

Requirements

• Excellent client-facing and reception skills with a professional, helpful approach
• Strong numeracy and competence with online appointment booking systems
• Ability to prioritise and stay calm under pressure
• Flexibility, willingness to learn, and genuine team spirit
• Previous veterinary receptionist experience is desirable but not essential
