Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

You’ll be part of a close-knit veterinary team delivering exceptional patient and client care at Medivet’s Crawley branch. Working 40 hours per week, you’ll support the nursing and veterinary team with in-patient procedures, pet monitoring, and client-facing care in a clean, family-friendly neighbourhood known for its walkability and dog-friendly parks—perfect if you’re passionate about pets and community.

The practice is well-equipped with a dedicated theatre, digital x-ray, and dental facilities. You’ll work alongside a branch partner, two experienced nurses, and a dedicated client-care team, creating a collaborative environment where everyone plays a valued role. This position includes participation in a 1:6 full weekend rota at Medivet Faygate (24-hour facility) or 1:3 Saturdays at a nearby clinic within the local network, plus 1–2 bank holidays per year.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional client care, supporting surgeries, procedures, and all routine practice operations while maintaining regulatory and health & safety standards
• Provide hands-on patient monitoring and care to pets, including walking, toileting, feeding, and general welfare duties
• Work collaboratively with the veterinary team, nurses, and client-care staff to maintain practice standards
• Support the smooth running of a two-consult-room practice with dedicated inpatient facilities

Requirements

• Passion for animal care and exceptional client service skills
• Ability to prioritise, remain calm under pressure, and work flexibly within a team environment
• Willingness to learn and develop in a supportive practice setting
• Must be over 18 years old (due to the physical and chemical hazards inherent to veterinary practice)
• No specific qualifications mentioned, but experience in animal care or customer-facing roles is valued

The practice is equipped with advanced facilities including digital x-ray, dedicated theatre, and dental capabilities, enabling the team to deliver comprehensive small animal and exotic care.

Led by a branch partner and staffed by experienced nurses and a dedicated client-care team, the practice fosters a collaborative, close-knit working environment where every team member is valued.
