About the Role
This is a full-time opportunity to join Medivet Dulwich's Branch Partner-led team as a Veterinary Surgeon. You'll work a four-day week with Wednesdays off and no Sunday duties—a genuine commitment to work-life balance. Your 40 hours will include 1 in 3 Saturday rotations shared between the Dulwich and New Cross practices, giving you predictable scheduling alongside colleagues who genuinely support each other.
The Dulwich clinic is currently undergoing a full refurbishment, and you'll have the chance to shape the future of a modern, well-equipped practice. You'll work alongside a highly experienced Lead Vet, another Vet Surgeon, 1 RVN, 1 SVN, and 2 VCAs, all in a positive, collaborative environment focused on clinical excellence and client care.
This role suits candidates with 2–3 years of UK post-qualification experience who are confident managing a mix of routine surgery, consultations, and sole charge work on Saturdays. Ultrasound skills (AFAST/TFAST) are highly valued, and there are opportunities for certificate training if you're interested in developing further.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional clinical care during consultations and surgical procedures
- Create tailored, accurate treatment plans and cost estimates for each patient
- Communicate clearly with clients, keeping them informed throughout their pet's care journey
- Work as part of a collaborative team, mentoring and supporting RVNs and SVNs to develop their skills
- Manage sole charge duties on Saturday shifts at either Dulwich or New Cross practice
- Arrange clinical handovers and out-of-hours transfers for patients requiring enhanced care
- Maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance, clinical best practice, and operational excellence
- Share clinical knowledge and support progressive practice culture across the Medivet community
Requirements
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with 2–3 years UK post-qualification experience
- Confident delivering exceptional patient and client care in a busy practice setting
- Comfortable working as the sole vet on Saturdays and managing mixed caseloads
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Clinical leadership skills and experience supporting nurse consultations and Schedule 3 procedures
- Ultrasound experience (AFAST/TFAST) highly desirable
- Friendly, team-oriented approach with openness to building workplace relationships

Medivet Dulwich is part of Medivet, a leading UK veterinary care provider with multiple small animal practices, 24-hour emergency centres, and referral facilities across England, Scotland, and Wales, plus international practices in France, Germany, and Spain. The Dulwich branch is a well-established small animal practice serving East Dulwich with a diverse client base and modern clinical facilities including X-ray, ultrasound, dental, and in-house laboratory services.
