Laboratory Assistant & Customer Service

About the Role

This is a blended laboratory and customer service position, supporting both client care and the receipt, preparation and recording of laboratory tests. You will be part of Medivet's veterinary diagnostic laboratory, providing services in Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Cytology and Molecular Biology.

The role combines day-to-day customer contact with practical lab support, so you'll be helping clients with queries, keeping records accurate, and supporting the smooth flow of samples, deliveries and documentation. The working pattern alternates between Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday, with shifts starting from 6am.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide information to customers about new and existing tests and services.
• Handle client questions and queries, escalating issues when needed.
• Maintain an accurate CRM database by entering and updating client information.
• Receive biological samples and prepare them for testing.
• Record results and data in the management system and manage supporting documentation.
• Distribute supplies to customers and support sample-related questions or concerns.
• Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing deliveries.
• Support quality standards in the department, including audits where required.

• Experience working in a customer-facing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Resilience and the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
• A collaborative approach to working within a wider team.
• Ability to work flexibly across an alternating Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday pattern, with shifts starting from 6am.
